DigiTech Begins Shipping Its HardWire V-10 Power Block Pedal Power Supply

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – HARMAN’s DigiTech today began shipping its HardWire V-10 Power Block 10-Pedal Isolated Power Supply, a top-quality pedalboard power supply that delivers dependable, noise-free power for effects pedals.

The HardWire V-10 Power Block features 10 totally isolated high-current outputs and a shielded low-stray-field toroidal transformer to eliminate hum and noise that can be caused by ground loops and interference. It includes four 9-volt outputs, along with two pairs of 9V/12V merge-able outputs for power-hungry digital pedals, and two outputs with variable voltage.

Built road-tough with a heavy-grade aircraft aluminum chassis the HardWire V-10 allows for maximum heat dissipation. With its compact size, the V-10 mounts perfectly under Pedaltrain™ pedalboards. "God of the Small Strings" Indian Guitarist Baiju Dharmajan Relies On DigiTech for His Signature Sounds

KOCHI, India – Baiju Dharmajan is one of India’s most celebrated guitarists. Known as “God of the Small Strings” to his fans, Dharmajan has been voted India’s best guitarist [at the Jack Daniels Rock Awards for two years in a row in 2008 and 2009] and was a long-time member of legendary Indian rock band Motherjane before launching his solo career and releasing his first solo album The Crossover in 2012 on the Cochym record label. Strongly influenced by Carnatic music, Indian artists K.J. Yesudas, Ilaiyaraaja, Raveendram and G. Devarajan and guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck, Dharmajan is known for his extended, Carnatic-inspired guitar solos – and his long-time use of HARMAN’s DigiTech pedals.

DigiTech Pedals Can Take Everything The Spits' Sean Wood Can Dish Out

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Loud, noisy and dirty punk for the people – that’s the Spits for you. No here today, gone tomorrow punk band, the Spits and guitarist Sean Wood have been dishing out their sonic mayhem since 2000, with six albums and 15 singles under their belts. Through it all, Wood has done his best to abuse HARMAN’S DigiTech pedals, with no end in sight.

Wood started playing 18 years ago in Kalamazoo, Michigan and soon moved to Seattle, playing music for fun with the guys in the band who eventually became the Spits. “We weren’t pleased by most of the bands out there at the time. We wanted to be original and powerful,” explained Wood. Tours with Marky Ramone, King Khan and the Shrines, NOFX, Rocket from the Crypt and others followed and today, Spits continues to excite – and pummel – their audiences with their frenzied, yet wilfully controlled and crafted sound.

The Spits have used DigiTech gear on every one of their past and present projects and tours. From the PDS 3000 and 8000 delay pedals to the Metal Master distortion pedal. For the current tour they’re using two Vocalist Live 5 vocal harmony processors, a JamMan Solo looper pedal and the iStomp programmable pedal.

“The Vocalist Live 5 has been especially useful on the road. As a touring band we have to deal with different venues, PA systems and sound engineers and it’s nice to always have your vocals the way you want them! The Vocalist Live 5 is the best – it has so many vocal ranges and effects to choose from. And like all the DigiTech pedals we’ve used, it’s very tough, which is important when you’re pounding on your gear without mercy night after night,” stated Wood.

“We use the JamMan Solo with our keyboards. It helps us to create compelling intros and outros –it’s just ideally suited for live performance.” Wood has recently discovered the usefulness and convenience of the iStomp. “Instead of bringing six pedals to the studio or the stage I can bring one, and get pretty much any sound I want – I love it.”

The Spits continue on their unconventional path as they finish up their new four-song EP…sung entirely in German. The Spits are also working on a new album, due in 2013 and as if that weren’t enough, they’re are working on a cable TV show called “Chucky and the Spits.”

Reinhardt Dias of Indian Band Blakc Leans On HARMAN’s DigiTech Whammy Pedal for Epic Sounds

MUMBAI, India – Blakc is a rock band from Mumbai, India whose name alone indicates it’s a little on the unconventional side. “Since we began Blakc has been unable to fit into any genres, and we’ve stopped trying to and simply stick to making music we love,” said guitarist and HARMAN DigiTech Whammy user Reinhardt Dias.

Combining elements of rock, alternative, progressive and grunge with an international feel, Blakc formed almost on a whim as college friends who decided to enter an on-campus music competition after a week of rehearsals.

Reinhardt’s guitar tones run the spectrum from clean arpeggios to crunching rhythms, heavily distorted leads and beyond. “The DigiTech Whammy just kills on my rig,” said Reinhardt. “I can get extremely experimental with it, and it gives me a broad spectrum of soundscapes. I can play a note, use the Dive Bomb setting and get such a deep low end that it makes my guitar sound like some kind of dubstep synthesizer rather than a guitar! Or, I can go so high up with a note that my guitar sounds like a very angry screaming cat.”

Blakc released its debut album Choking On A Dream in 2008 and has persistently kept building its following, graduating from college favorites to national touring act. The band has played shows in 14 cities across India to date and dreams of an international breakout on the strength of its new album MotheredLand.

For Reinhardt the Whammy’s drop tune capability does so much more than just alter the pitch of the notes. “It gives the notes I’m playing a kind of ‘tingling’ sound that I can’t get anywhere else. I also really like the pedal’s Harmony settings – I add just a little delay to the Harmony effects and the notes sound epic.”

The e-pedal lives up to its name, giving guitarists the ability to play impossible guitar riffs that you would never think to play.

Adrian Belew needs little introduction as a beyond-cutting-edge musician who has smashed sonic boundaries with artists including David Bowie, King Crimson, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Nine Inch Nails and others, and over a diverse solo career spanning nearly 20 solo albums. Two knobs on The Impossible Pedal set the two different pitch intervals and two knobs select whether the pitches shift up or down over a two octave range. By stepping on the footswitch, the note played by the guitarist alternates between the standard (unaffected) pitch and the two pitch-shifted voices, to create melodic passages that extend beyond physical human ability. Even its iStomp icon is an impossible optical illusion that has to be seen to be disbelieved.

DigiTech New Dirty Robot Synth Pedal for the iStomp™ Offers Sub-Harmonic and Filter Synthesis

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – HARMAN’s DigiTech continues to expand its rave-reviewed iStomp e-pedal lineup with the introduction of its 3Q three-band EQ e-pedal. The 3Q gives guitarists and musicians three frequency bands of adjustable passive and active equalization for wide-ranging tone shaping.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – HARMAN’s DigiTech today announced the introduction of its Red Coral Dual Detune e-pedal for its iStomp programmable pedal. The Red Coral adds a choice of one or two slightly pitch-shifted signals to the original, to “double” or beef up the sound of a guitar, bass, keyboard or other instruments.

“Known as automatic double tracking or ADT, mixing a delay with an original signal is one of the classic recording studio techniques for making a guitar or instrumental part sound ‘bigger’ or making a single guitar sound like two guitars playing at once,” said Scott Klimt, marketing manager for DigiTech. “Our Red Coral now makes this automatic double tracking studio effect available to musicians everywhere in an easy to use pedal.”

The DigiTech Red Coral offers a detuning effect that’s similar to a chorus pedal in that it adds a pitch-shifted signal to the original. However, the pitch shift doesn’t modulate like the regular slow or fast cycling of a chorus pedal – the amount of pitch shift stays the same. The resulting effect sounds like two guitarists playing at the same time.

The Red Coral Dual Detune offers two independent voices each capable of plus or minus 24 cents of pitch shift, to produce anything from extremely subtle to lush detuning and double tracking effects. Each of the voices has an independent level control so that when the pedal is used in stereo one channel can be detuned while the other channel remains unaffected.

“Guitarist’s Guitarist” Johnny Hiland Discovers HARMAN’s DigiTech Hardwire Pedals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Guitarist Johnny Hiland stands out for his prodigious technique, blazing speed and seemingly boundless musical creativity. Recently Hiland, who is equally adept at playing pop, blues and rock, discovered HARMAN’s DigiTech Hardwire pedals and is consistently playing with many of the pedals from the line. Hiland has played with artists as diverse as Toby Keith, Ricky Skaggs, Janie Fricke, Hank Williams III, Sammy Hagar, George Clinton and P-Funk and more. In 2011, Hiland signed with Shrapnel Records and has a new album now available titiled All Fired Up.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Bassist Josh Lattanzi depends on HARMAN’s DigiTech JamMan Solo for world-famous singer/songwriter Norah Jones’ current world tour in support of her latest release, Little Broken Hearts—a sonic and emotional change from previous albums with its moodier songs and more expansive and textured sounds. Lattanzi is a multi-instrumentalist who can also be seen playing acoustic and electric guitar, lap steel guitar and piano during the current tour.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – DigiTech today introduced Double Cross Delay, the newest e-pedal for the iStomp downloadable pedal. The Double Cross Delay is a unique two-second dual delay that produces alternating delay repeats between the pedal's two outputs. With the pedal’s Spread knob set at 12 o'clock, the Double Cross provides a classic Ping-Pong delay effect. At extreme settings, the Double Cross creates rhythmic echoes that will give your playing a distinctive sound.

The pedal’s time control provides a player the capability to adjust the delay time from 20ms to 2 seconds. When Tap Tempo is enabled, this knob will change the delay multiplier. Regen, Spread and Level knobs allow for adjustment to the number of delay repeats, the panning ratio of the repeats and the output level of the effect.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – HARMAN’s DigiTech today announced its next-generation Whammy pedal, featuring chordal Whammy pitch-shifting, additional Whammy intervals and true bypass operation is now available at music stores around the globe. The new Whammy retains the legendary Whammy sound that made it one of the most iconic pedals recognized by guitarists around the world, while adding never-before-available sonic capabilities.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Brett Garsed is one of the best guitarists to come out of Australia. Currently playing in the show band for Australia’s Dancing With the Stars, Garsed and his DigiTech pedals are heard by more than two million TV viewers every week. Garsed is known for his unique, fluent slide guitar style and use of wide intervals and a chromatic rather than scalar approach to improvisations.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Jason Roberts, lead guitarist for Norah Jones, will be relying on the new DigiTech Whammy for Jones' upcoming tour in support of her new album, Little Broken Hearts. Roberts describes the album as "beautiful and 'heartbreaking" with some surprisingly different sounds and textures on it, which make the Whammy a great tool for recreating some of the unusual elements of the album when playing live. The new Whammy features several upgrades including a Chords mode for pitch-shifting entire chords, true bypass operation and other enhancements, while retaining all of its signature multi-octave pitch-bending and harmony effects - from subtle to extreme.

Roberts immediately knew the Whammy pedal would be of use to him when he was hired for the current tour. "Norah was really, really specific in her desire to find a guitarist and keyboard player for this tour who knew how to work with pedals and get some interesting sounds, so she definitely welcomes new toys like the new Whammy whenever we get them," stated Roberts.

"I love the Classic/Chord switch on the new Whammy that lets you go between bending individual notes and entire chords," Roberts continued. "That definitely lets me play cleaner when I'm holding out multiple notes. There are also a couple of songs on Little Broken Hearts, for example the second verse of 'Take It Back,' where there are some higher-octave guitars doing some spacey chord arpeggios. The Whammy with the Chord switch on will really make these parts stick out in a live setting. I'm also going to experiment with starting a phrase on a lower note and using the Whammy to bend the note up to pitch - I think that'll give my phrases a lot of added emotional expression."

Roberts has a long history with the Whammy and appreciates the improvements that the latest version offers. "The old Whammy was great, but the new one is much more sturdy and the pedal travel and ability to fine-tune the settings is more precise," he said. "I used to notice the old pedal would slip and I would end up having to keep my foot on it all the time. That's not an issue with the new one."

"I generally like pedals that have great sound, looks and durability," Roberts concluded. "You don't want a pedal to break when you're in the middle of a big show. For me, a pedal has to have the right vibe, so I'm glad the new Whammy looks so classic! I don't want to look down and feel like I have a space station under my feet - I want to see retro-looking pedals. I also love the fact that I can step on it pretty hard and know the pedal is going to be reliable."

Guitarist Paul Richards had been using the DigiTech Whammy™, RP500 multi-effects unit and even a decades-old Echo Plus, and when the iPB-10 programmable pedalboard for iPad was introduced, he was curious to try one. ANAHEIM, California – HARMAN’s HardWire™ today announced the introduction of its HT6 FastTune Tuner app for iPod, iPhone and iPad. The HT6 FastTune app enables those devices to function as a polyphonic tuner, letting guitar and bass players tune all their strings at once.

The HT6 FastTune Tuner app is based on the popular HardWire HT-6 Polyphonic Tuner floor pedal, which makes tuning instruments faster and easier by allowing the musician to simply strum all the strings at once, and view the display to see which strings are in or out of tune. The app works using the iPod, iPhone or iPad mic input, and it can also operate by plugging an instrument into the device’s headphone input or 30-pin connection. The HT6 FastTune Tuner app provides an immediate visual indication of which strings are in tune, sharp or flat, and its display can be set to either polyphonic mode, or chromatic tuning mode if desired. The app offers automatic capo detection – it senses if a guitarist has a capo on the neck and adjusts the display to tune to the correct chord. Adding to its appeal, the app offers a Drop-D tuning mode for users of this popular alternate setting.
