DigiTech Launches New Spring Tank Reverb Pedal

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - DigiTech today announced that the new Spring Tank reverb pedal for the iStomp(tm) is now available from the DigiTech Stomp Shop app on iTunes. The Spring Tank pedal provides the rich spring reverb effect found in vintage amplifiers and on numerous classic and contemporary recordings. Not only does the new offering produce a rich stereo spring reverb effect, it also produces the distinctive "boing" artifact unique to spring reverb trays that guitar players have come to know and love.

While the Spring Tank reverb pedal delivers the great sound of a traditional spring reverb, it also takes the concept of a spring reverb a step farther. Unlike single knob reverb effects found in guitar amps, the Spring Tank provides four separate knobs to control Reverb level, Boing, Twang and Tone. The pedal has a cool, unusual design, morphing a traditional spring tank into the form of a classic stompbox.

The Spring Tank pedal is the 26th and latest pedal added to the Stomp Shop app for use with the iStomp downloadable pedal. The Stomp Shop debuted in January 2012 with an initial compliment of 22 pedals ranging in price from US$1.99 to US$9.99. Each month DigiTech continues to add new pedals to the pedal line to bring guitar players fresh new options. Using the digital download format of the iStomp allows DigiTech to put many new and unusual pedals into guitar players' hands vey quickly.

"This is one of many new pedals to come as we expand the iStomp pedal line. The pedals in the Stomp Shop offer a wide variety of high-quality tones and effects that musicians are looking for. The new Spring Tank pedal is no exception," stated Rob Urry, vice president, HARMAN Professional Division and general manager of Signal Processing and Amplifier Business Units.

The Spring Tank pedal is now available for only US$0.99. This special launch price will run through April 30, 2012, after which it will move to its regular price of US$9.99.

The DigiTech iStomp is an entirely new concept in guitar stompboxes that allows musicians to turn the iStomp into any pedal in the Stomp Shop. Offering almost limitless sonic possibilities, the iStomp connects to an Apple iOS device where musicians can use the Stomp Shop app to load it with the pedal of their choice. The Stomp Shop is a free app and comes with two of the most popular requested pedals, the DigiTech Total Recall(tm) digital delay and the DigiTech Redline(tm) Overdrive. It also gives access to additional pedals that musicians can browse, try out, and purchase. With the iStomp, DigiTech can deliver an ever expanding variety of great new pedals to guitar players worldwide via the Stomp Shop app.

HARMAN (www.harman.com) designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of audio and infotainment solutions for the automotive, consumer and professional markets - supported by 15 leading brands, including AKG, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon and Mark Levinson.
DigiTech Launches the New Sound-Off(tm) Pedal for the iStomp(tm) Downloadable Pedal

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - HARMAN's DigiTech announces the availability of the new Sound-Off pedal for the iStomp(tm) downloadable stompbox. DigiTech is broadening the range of the pedal line within the Stomp Shop(tm) app to now provide an easy to use utility pedal. The Sound-Off is a simple pedal that provides a momentary switch to completely shut the audio signal off when the button is pressed and brings it back when released. This on/off function allows guitarists to create a special effect similar to the pickup on/off switch found on some guitars.

"For guitarists who are looking to create a choppy effect that can be controlled at their feet, the Sound-Off is a flexible solution they can quickly add to their arsenal," stated Rob Urry, vice president, HARMAN Professional Division and general manager of Signal Processing and Amplifier Business Units, "and because we are using digital download technology, we are able to add very unique pedals like the Sound-Off in the Stomp Shop frequently."

The Sound-Off pedal is now available from the DigiTech Stomp Shop at an introductory price of only US$0.99. This special price will run through April 30, 2012. After the introductory period it will change to its regular price of US$1.99.

The DigiTech iStomp is an entirely new concept in guitar stompboxes that allows musicians to turn the iStomp into any pedal in the Stomp Shop.
California Guitar Trio’s Paul Richards Makes the Move to the DigiTech® iPB-10 Programmable Pedalboard for iPad®

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The California Guitar Trio needs no introduction to guitar aficionados – and should be on any music lover’s required listening list. Paul Richards, Bert Lams and Hideyo Moriya founded the Trio in 1991 and have since gone on to record more than a dozen albums. The California Guitar Trio tours worldwide, delighting audiences with their dazzling virtuosity, on-stage humor and eclectic blend of pop, classical, surf, jazz, world and other less-categorizable musical influences.
Guitarist Paul Richards had been using the DigiTech Whammy™, RP500 multi-effects unit and even a decades-old Echo Plus, and when the iPB-10 programmable pedalboard for iPad was introduced, he was curious to try one. The iPB-10 is the world’s first guitar multi-effects pedal designed to work with the Apple® iPad and iPad2. It docks with an iPad to deliver never-before-available touchscreen visual editing capabilities and access to an unlimited array of sounds.

“When I was a teenager, I worked at a guitar shop, so I’ve been familiar with DigiTech for more than 20 years,” Richards said. “I’ve watched them continually improve and become more innovative. I had been using another multi-effects unit onstage for many years, and I’ve tested and owned gear from a number of manufacturers. When I tried the iPB-10, I was immediately impressed by both the sound quality and the very cool, easy to use iPad interface.”

“Everything is better! Better distortions, better amp modeling, better effects, and the iPad interface is so easy to use,” Richards noted. “The same day that I got the iPB-10, I had easily figured out how to program it, and was duplicating and improving on all my sounds that I had created on my previous multi-effects unit. In fact, I had the iPB-10 ready for our live show that night.”

“The sound quality of the iPB-10 is phenomenal. The amp modeling is the best I’ve ever used. Every night we play in different types of venues – it could be a rock club, jazz club, church, theater or arts center – with a different sound system every night. It is absolutely critical for me to have a great-sounding effects unit that works in every kind of live setting.”

“After the first show that I played with the iPB-10, I knew that the unit sounded great and was going to work well,” Richards said. “Over the course of the rest of the tour, I was impressed with how good it sounded night after night. There’s an original tune of ours called ‘Andromeda,’ where I’m playing a heavy guitar riff with quite a bit of distortion. I found a great setting on the iPB-10 using one of the amp models. A couple of weeks ago we did a show with our friends in the Montreal Guitar Trio, who we had done quite a few shows with before. When they heard my new sound on ‘Andromeda’ using my iPB-10, they commented on how much better it sounded, and became very interested in my iPB-10!”

“The iPB-10 is super-easy to use on stage,” Richards pointed out. “It’s by far the easiest multi-effects unit I have ever used. With the iPad interface, it’s very much like having real amps and effects pedal boards all at my fingertips, in one small unit. Instead of having to access menus or go into parameter pages to make changes, everything that I need is accessible with a touch on the screen or a click of a button, just like real amps and pedals.”

“In my home studio, I’ve been having a lot of fun creating new sounds using the huge variety of amps and effects available in the iPB-10. I can’t say enough about how easy this unit is to program and how easy it is to tweak sounds with the iPad interface.”

For more information about the California Guitar Trio please visit www.cgtrio.com.

HARMAN (www.harman.com) designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of audio and infotainment solutions for the automotive, consumer and professional markets — supported by 15 leading brands, including AKG, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon and Mark Levinson.
DigiTech Introduces The iStomp: The World’s First Effects Pedal That Can Be Programmed With Any Sound

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – DigiTech today announced the introduction of the iStomp pedal, an entirely new concept in guitar stompboxes that allows musicians to program the effect pedal with any sound they want – and change it at any time. Offering almost limitless sonic possibilities, the iStomp connects to an iPod Touch®, iPhone®, or iPad® enabling musicians to load the effect of their choice into the iStomp.

“The iStomp ushers in a new era in effects pedal functionality,” said Rob Urry, vice president, HARMAN Professional Division and general manager of Signal Processing and Amplifier Business Units. “Until now, guitarists and musicians had to buy a separate pedal for each effect they wanted and a separate pedal for different tones of the same effect. Now, musicians can buy an iStomp and configure an effect exactly the way they want, and later, they can simply download a different tone of that same effect or download an entirely different effect if they want to try something new.”

The iStomp pedal connects to an Apple iOS device using the DigiTech Smart Cable that comes with the iStomp. Once connected, the DigiTech StompShop provides two of the most popular requested effects, the DigiTech Total Recall Delay and the DigiTech Redline Overdrive with the initial purchase. The app also offers access to additional effects that iStomp owners can browse, try out, and purchase for their stompbox. The iStomp pedal has four knobs to control effects parameters, which change their function according to which effect is loaded.

iStomp makes trying out new sounds easier than ever. Any guitarist can try any pedal from the Stomp Shop for free for up to 5 minutes – in their own home, using their own guitar and amp. Approximately 24 pedals will be offered initially, and the selection will expand to include exclusive pedals from DigiTech, officially licensed pedals from other manufacturers and classic legacy DigiTech and DOD products.

Every musician wants to create his or her signature sound, and many buy, sell and trade pedals constantly in their quest for the ultimate tone. With iStomp, users simply pay the cost of a download if they want to get something new. Multiple iStomp pedals can be authorized to the same iTunes account, allowing customers to purchase an effect once from the in-app store, and then load it into any iStomp pedal registered to them. All purchases are saved within the app, making it easy to build up a wide ranging effects collection.

The DigiTech iStomp will begin shipping in January 2012 at $229.95 suggested retail. The iStomp pedal comes with an iOS authorization cable, power supply and the two initial downloads. Additional downloads are available starting at $4.99 each.

HARMAN (www.harman.com) designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of audio and infotainment solutions for the automotive, consumer and professional markets – supported by 15 leading brands including AKG®, Harman Kardon®, Infinity®, JBL®, Lexicon® and Mark Levinson®.
The DigiTech® Vocalist Live5 and HardWire HT-6 Polyphonic Tuner Are Essential Live Sound Tools for Hawthorne Heights' JT Woodruff

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Hawthorne Heights is a band that's hard to pin down. While most bands stick to a tried and true formula, Hawthorne Heights has achieved worldwide popularity by mixing elements of rock, pop, emo, alternative, post-hardcore and more into a sound all their own. The band tours constantly, and lead vocalist and guitarist JT Woodruff uses the DigiTech Vocalist Live5 and Hardwire HT-6 Polyphonic Tuner as essential live performance tools during those long months on the road.

"We don't usually travel with a sound engineer - we like to do everything ourselves," notes Woodruff. "We are happy knowing how to get our own sounds, and knowing what we want. For that reason the Vocalist Live5 is one of my favorite on-stage pedals right now because I can control my onstage vocal monitor volume independently of everything else in the PA. If the vocals coming out of the monitors aren't the best, I can always crank up the gain on the Live5 and get a great sound. It's almost too easy."

In the past 36 days, Woodruff has had a total of three days off from touring. "The Live5 helps if I'm feeling a bit weak one night. It gives me more volume in the monitor to hear over the drums or the guitar. It also warms up my voice with its reverbs and delays, and sometimes even experimenting with distortion a little. It has plenty of control over the effects without being overly complicated, and on a bad PA night it's a godsend."

The HardWire HT-6 Polyphonic Tuner also makes Woodruff's life easier onstage. "I don't use a lot of different guitars for alternate tunings. I'd rather re-tune the guitar I'm playing. When I want to drop a note, the HT-6 locks in fast and lets me make adjustments very quickly."

"As the lead singer you don't have any down time during a set." Woodruff points out. "Anyone can tune a guitar between songs, but the HT-6 lets me make adjustments while I'm playing! When I'm singing and I notice my guitar is flat, it can throw my singing off, but now that I have the HT-6, it changes everything and lets me keep playing in tune all through the show."

Dependable performance is something Woodruff relies on from DigiTech. "I like the playability, durability and reliability of DigiTech pedals. Knowing that your gear won't fail onstage helps reduce your stress. I'm supposed to be having fun and I don't even want to think about the possibility of a pedal breaking."

As a creative artist, Woodruff is always looking for new gear to inspire new sounds and musical ideas. "DigiTech always keeps us updated about new products we might be interested in, and they're very supportive of us and other bands. In fact, I can't wait to get my hands on the new iPB-10 programmable pedalboard with the iPad® dock. I take my iPad with me wherever I go. It has my lyrics, my e-mail and basically my life on it! Being able to have all my onstage sounds on my iPad and the iPB-10 and integrate them into my onstage guitar rig is something I'm really looking forward to."

JT Woodruff and Hawthorne Heights pride themselves on being able to reproduce the sound of their studio albums in live performance. "It is one thing to use a bunch of guitar tones in the studio, but if you can't replicate your sounds live, you will lose your audience. The DigiTech Live5, HT-6 and other pedals help us re-create the sound of our records when playing live - and on top of that we always push ourselves to be even better live than on our studio recordings."

"One of the best things about DigiTech for any performer is that they are constantly pushing the limits and advancing their products. I always look forward to experimenting and seeing what I can do with a new DigiTech pedal, to see if it can help me create a new song or make an old song better."

Guitar Virtuoso Bryan Baker On DigiTech Whammy DT: "It's An Instrument In Itself"

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Bryan Baker was seemingly born to play the guitar. By the time he was 13 he was playing in the historic Chicago jazz and blues club Kingston Mines. At age 16 he was the youngest person to be awarded a full scholarship to the Berklee College of Music. Baker has played with artists including Mike Mainieri, Mike Stern, Anthony Jackson, Allan Holdsworth and many others, and is the featured soloist on composer David Chesky's stunning Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra. His band Black Baptista recently released their debut album Thread the Needle, and he is the author of Principles of Music, an instructional and philosophical instrumental tutorial.

Baker is a long-time DigiTech user. "For me, it's about building a relationship with the gear I use. DigiTech gear is incredibly reliable, consistently sounds awesome and above all is tough as nails which is important because I give my gear a solid beating at every show."

"When the Whammy DT came out, I knew I had to have it," Baker said. "I'd been using the original Whammy since it first came out, and the DT adds drop tuning, capo tuning and a lot more. It's an instrument in itself. I use the DT as a unique musical instrument to write songs that I could not otherwise perform."

"I am able to instantly switch between octaves and bend notes in ways that can't be done by any other means. The Whammy DT practically turns the guitar into a 48-fret instrument."

"Another thing I like about the Whammy DT is its versatility," Baker continued. "It's not a pedal like a delay or reverb that basically gives you variations on one sound. The DT offers practically limitless options with the harmony bend mode alone." The Whammy DT can drop down or capo up four steps from where a guitar or bass is tuned, in half-step increments or an entire octave. The pedal also provides all of the classic pitch shifting effects of the original Whammy, including octave and two-octave up and down bends, hammer-on and pull-off effects and much more.

"The coolest thing about DigiTech is that they make quality effects with their own sonic identity, rather than just doing what is trendy in the market. A DigiTech effect is a DigiTech effect because it is unique," Baker noted.

Another pedal that Baker has come to find handy, especially when traveling, is the DigiTech RP500 multi-effects unit. "The RP500 lets me get my sounds when I want to play on other peoples' records or jam and can't take my pedalboard on the road. The RP500 is set up like a pedalboard instead of the complicated layouts of other multi-effects units, so it's easy to use. The RP500's direct out is extremely useful, since I can just plug it into a mixing console and start playing, without needing an amplifier. People are amazed that all my sound can come from such a small device."

"The most important aspect of any piece of gear is the sound, which is why DigiTech has remained with me for so long," noted Baker. "I find that DigiTech products have the ability to be in sync with the sound you are trying to produce. Most gear imposes its sound upon the artist, but with DigiTech, the artist chooses how to use the device and it only enhances and makes their sound better without being overpowering."

"DigiTech pedals have not only given me great sounds to work with--more importantly, they have provided me with creative tools that make me sound better and inspire me to play and compose new and uniquely personal music."

DigiTech® Pedals Deliver the Sonic Goods for Versatile Guitarist Phil X

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Phil X is one busy guitar player. Equally at home live, in the studio or on YouTube, he has played with scores of top-name artists like Kelly Clarkson, Tommy Lee, Avril Lavigne, Daughtry, Chris Cornell, Tommy Lee, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper and more. Phil X plays in the band The Drills (www.thedrills.com), and his wry humor and no-holds-barred playing style have made him one of the world's most viewed guitarists via his YouTube demos for guitar dealer Fretted Americana.

Phil X can use any overdrive pedal he pleases -- and his mainstay is the DigiTech Bad Monkey. "Whenever I need overdrive, my go to is the Bad Monkey," Phil notes. "It simply does everything I want an overdrive to do."

"I have also been recently using the HardWire pedals. The CR-7 Stereo Chorus is amazing, the TR-7 Tremolo/Rotary killer and the RV-7 Reverb is astounding -- couldn't be better."

"I like DigiTech gear because of the quality, how rugged it is and its affordability," Phil continued. "It's valuable to me to be able to tell young guitar players what gear I use, and know they can actually afford it. I constantly get e-mails from kids around the world telling me how much they love the Bad Monkey, and asking me what settings I use."

Underneath Phil Xs affable demeanor is a musician who takes the tools of his trade very seriously. "I have a pretty crazy ear when it comes to effects. I know exactly what I like and don't like. The HardWire pedals blew me away when I first heard them. Sometimes I am looking for a piece of gear to be simple and sometimes I want crazy options. The HardWire gear does both. The pedals are simple, yet give me a ton of variety."

"I've also been able to simplify my setup," Phil continued. "With HardWire, I know I can get everything I need with one chorus pedal, one delay pedal and one reverb pedal along with my Bad Monkey, which reduces the amount of gear that I need to have at all times. In the studio, having access to a lot of sounds is like painting with a bunch of colors and textures to make the mood feel right. It's the time to experiment and find unique sounds."

"On stage, it's a different story," notes Phil. "There's no time to experiment with effects settings. Everything has to be ready to go. Live, I know I can just hook my DigiTech pedals up and rely on them, freeing me to devote myself fully to my performance. Ultimately, I want my two hands to be what entertains people."

For more information on Phil X, please visit: www.philx.tv

DigiTech® Whammy® DT Pedal with Drop Tuning and True Bypass Is Now Shipping

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- DigiTech today announced the Whammy DT Pedal is now shipping. The new Whammy DT adds a host of mind-bending capabilities including drop tuning, capo tuning and true bypass coupled with the famous Whammy.

Since its introduction, the Whammy DT Pedal has already been met with resoundingly positive reviews from musicians who have had a chance to demo it.

"The applications for this pedal are endless. This can be used with any style of music, which makes it so powerful," stated Ben Carter, Guitarist with BC Grooves.

"The Whammy DT is not just a one-trick pony; after playing through it, the DT quickly revealed its value as a compositional tool," added Kelly Ritchotte of Luthier.

The Whammy DT starts with the classic Whammy pitch shifting effects that have made the Whammy one of the most recognizable effects pedals in rock. Featuring an expanded selection of pitch bending capabilities including nine Whammy bending modes from two-octaves up through two-octaves down, nine harmony bending modes, two detune modes, and the popular Dive Bomb six octaves down effect.

The Whammy DT also lets guitar and bass players instantly modify their tuning without having to change instruments or break the musical mood with awkward tuning adjustments for the next song. The Whammy DT can drop down or capo up seven half-steps or an entire octave from where the guitar or bass is tuned. Thanks to the Whammy DT's sophisticated digital signal processing and pitch shifting algorithms, chordal accuracy is perfectly maintained.

In addition, the Whammy DT features a momentary footswitch for real time stepped pitch shifting to create "Hammer-On" and "Pull-Off" type effects. Players can instantly get a drop or raise in the pitch of the notes they are playing by stepping on and holding the footswitch -- then releasing it to return to pitch for a dramatic effect during solos and riffs.

The DigiTech Whammy DT is now available with an MSRP of $449.95.

DigiTech Eternal Descent Lyra Now Shipping: Pedal-Based Comic FX

Guitarists the world over can now add the sounds of the cross-genre Eternal Descent story to their rigs, with the new DigiTech Eternal Descent Lyra limited-edition multi-effects pedal.

Based on the Eternal Descent graphic novel and music series, the DigiTech Lyra delivers the signature tones, sounds, and effects that producer / engineer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Kiss) and his team used to record the Eternal Descent albums. Seven preset tones, from clean to moderate overdrive to crushing distortion, are available that match seven songs from the albums.

The Eternal Descent series blends elements of fantasy, action, music, superhero, gothic, science fiction, the supernatural, and other elements into an ongoing saga featuring Lyra, the series heroine and rock singer who is constantly immersed in a battle with demons. Created by writer Llexi Leon, the comics revolve around the exploits of Lyra and her band, Constellation Nine, and rock and metal bands like Static X, Atreyu, Firewind, Shadows Fall, and others have made guest appearances.

About the availability of the new DigiTech pedal, Leon said, "I'm psyched to see Lyra on the pedal boards of guitarists and Eternal Descent fans everywhere! The sounds we've created really reflect the attitude and allure of Lyra's character, a unique set of tones to excite and inspire all kinds of players."

The pedal sports the Eternal Descent logo, distinctive Lyra graphic, and a dark metallic purple finish. Each preset tone can be tweaked with the Lyra's Gain and FX Mix knobs. According to DigiTech, when the knobs are in the 12 o'clock position, the sound matches the sound of the actual song. Turning the Gain knob left or right increases or decreases the amount of amp / distortion gain, while turning the FX Mix knob left or right increases or decreases the amount of the modulation, delay, and reverb effects for each of the seven presets. A Level knob controls the output volume. The guitar pedal has mono and stereo outputs and can be powered by a 9V battery or the included AC power supply.

Eternal Descent Lyra features:

7 Signature tones from Eternal Descent sessions

Controls for Level, Gain, FX Mix, and Lyra

Mono or Stereo outputs

Custom Eternal Descent artwork

Rugged cast-metal chassis

Includes PS200R power supply

The DigiTech Eternal Descent Lyra limited-edition multi-effects pedal is now available for $199.95 (MSRP). To learn more, visit digitech.com.

DigiTech® Introduces the Whammy® DT Pedal with drop tuning and true bypass

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- DigiTech's Whammy is one of the most iconic effects pedals ever created -- and the new Whammy DT adds a host of mind-bending new capabilities including drop tuning, capo tuning, true bypass coupled with the famous Whammy.

The Whammy DT starts with the classic Whammy pitch shifting effects that have made the Whammy one of the most recognizable effects pedals in rock. Featuring an expanded selection of pitch bending capabilities including 9 Whammy bending modes from 2-octaves up through 2-octives down, 9 harmony bending modes, 2 detune modes, and the popular Dive Bomb six octaves down effect.

The various effects can be selected via the pedal's two selector knobs and dual set of LEDs indicators. The Whammy DT includes ¼-inch guitar input and output, a MIDI input that allows control of the pedal from an external MIDI device, and an external 9 volt DC power adapter. The Whammy DT is built to take the demands of live performance, with a rugged all-metal chassis, pedal and footswitch. Its true bypass operation ensures it can be added to any rig without any adverse effect on sound quality, without the "tone suck" of some non-bypass pedals. The Whammy DT can be used with the optional DigiTech FS3X three-button footswitch controller for added expressive capabilities.

"It was no easy task to improve upon a product that has been as successful as the legendary Whammy," said Rob Urry, Vice President and General Manager of HARMAN Professional Signal Processing Group. "But we feel that we have exceeded this goal by expanding the feature set of the original Whammy with drop tuning and capo tuning capabilities, as well as true bypass operation now available in the Whammy DT."

The DigiTech Whammy DT will be available in June 2011 at $449.95 MSRP.
