Can the individual who put up this sound file describe the exact settings on the RP150 used to get this sound. Thanks.

I have owned my RP-150 since Dec.2007 and just recently decided to dial in new settings by using the online software( I'm a serious rookie to computer recording and digital amp modeling)

but, here is the problem- I lost that setting, cause I still don't know what the hell I'm doing.

I will tell you this - some of the better van halen tones are achieved by using the Bassman 4x10 cabinet settings( it has the right mids) - the Rat or DOD250 but with higher levels vs. gain, don't use the gain so much you screw up the tone.

300ms. on the Tape Delay wow and flutter set at 12:00
repeats set to one repeat- and adjust the mix by ear.

I have a real echoplex, that also helped my clips alot.

the EQ - I used MIDBOOST setting but, I changed everything.
no bass 0db. mids boosted at 1200khz treble can't remember.

I've dialed in much better VH settings lately, once I can post a better quality clip -I'll post the settings.

That makes sense, as the original Marshalls that the plexies are based off of were direct copies of the 4-10 bassman. I can hear that most of your tone is coming from an actual echoplex....same as as Van Halens original setup, and the pedal you listed as a solid state copy of the preamp from the tube echoplex. This gear, combined with the flanger you used and your touch on the strings, and the end result is about what one would expect.

One of the best sounds I have heard out of a 150.

As an aside, you might just read your settings directly off the pedal for the improved versions of these sounds you say you have come up with and post them on the forum. Van Halen posted the settings for his tone on " Aint Talking Bout Love " for the RP100 some years back. The post is probably around these forums somewhere....you might post something like that someday soon. Thanks.

Thanks T.J for posting the song. It is much easier to transcribe when there are no vocals. It took about half an hour for me to transcribe it.

there is one thing I know for sure on Ain't talkin' bout love is that you will need to use a second delay, besides the one with the RP-150 and it will come out perfect.

one set at 300ms and the second at like 100ms or less.

I'll try and post some new VH clips just using the RP150 and not a bunch of side stuff that others may not have available.

I think you guys will dig the settings alot.

It has been a great tool for songwriting and I now know how to post some settings and now maybe I can get some better software for recording.

thanks for the feedback on the clips but, I got some much cooler stuff to post this week.
